Notice: Function amp_has_paired_endpoint was called incorrectly. Function cannot be called before services are registered. The service ID "paired_routing" is not recognized and cannot be retrieved. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 2.1.1.) in /home/funderstanding/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114

Notice: Function amp_is_available was called incorrectly. `amp_is_available()` (or `amp_is_request()`, formerly `is_amp_endpoint()`) was called too early and so it will not work properly. WordPress is not currently doing any hook. Calling this function before the `wp` action means it will not have access to `WP_Query` and the queried object to determine if it is an AMP response, thus neither the `amp_skip_post()` filter nor the AMP enabled toggle will be considered. The function was called too early (before the plugins_loaded action) to determine the plugin source. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 2.0.0.) in /home/funderstanding/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114

Low Tech Tuesday – 2/18/14

low tech

How old are you? (Wait, don’t answer that).

If you are a parent of a child that is older than 12, you probably remember the things that your teachers did to teach you ideas and concepts.

Did they involve computers? Or tablets or smartphones? Probably not.

In today’s age, we tend to think everything including learning and education is done using technology. We’d like to get away from that thinking. We want to provide low tech learning options for you. We think it’s so important that we’re starting a weekly series.

So step away from the computer. Get your hands dirty. Just like when you were a kid.

For our first entry into this series, we give you Exploratorium. This site has a bunch of fun ideas. Our favorite that we’re going to have to try ourselves is Ear Guitar, just because we are fans of music and it’s our only chance of becoming rockstars. It is also a good way of introducing kids to the science of music. Who knows, maybe they will then want to learn how to play an instrument?

Find one that excites you. Then click on the video at the end of this article. And then go low-tech! And if you do any of those ideas, let us know.
